Budget Billing Plans
Budget Billing Plans
The purpose of the Cooperative's budget billing program is to equalize the monthly payment for electricity for the member's convenience.
The Cooperative offers two budget billing plans - the fixed budget and the variable budget.
The
fixed budget
is offered to the Cooperative's accounts that do not have 12 months of billing history. With the fixed budget, the Cooperative determines a set monthly amount for the member to pay for a 12-month period. This amount may be adjusted by the member accounting department to prevent either a debit or credit balance.
Once an account has 12 months of history on the Cooperative's files, it automatically converts to the variable budget. The
variable budget
adds the current month's consumption to the previous 11 months of use to produce an average monthly kilowatt-hour figure. The bill for the average kilowatt-hours is calculated base upon the current Cooperative rate schedule. This amount is rounded to the nearest dollar and becomes the budget billing amount for the month. This budget amount actually is adjusted monthly, but usually remains within a few dollars of the previous month's budget, for the convenience of the member. As with the fixed budget, the variable monthly budget may be adjusted to prevent either a large credit or debit balance from building up on the account.
If the budget billing program suits your needs, and you do not owe a delinquent bill, just call the Billing Department and ask to be placed on budget billing. The Cooperative recommends that interested members sign up now to enjoy the benefits of a budget payment plan.
One phone call is all it takes.
